one of life's most troubling times are spent circling the trader joe's parking lot. what IS that? it doesn't seem to matter if you show up at 11:00am on Sunday, 5:00pm on Monday or noon-thirty on Friday. inevitably, the lot will be full and there will be at least four toyota priuses [what is the plural for a toyota prius? prii? prices? prisms?] zooming into compact spaces that you had clearly claimed with your omnipotent blinker.
ive easily lost two solid years of my life snarling behind my fake bans and chewing-out grumpy g-pa's and PBDBs alike. the only thing that pisses me off more than the haunting torture that is an over-stuffed parking lot, is the incomparable hell that arrises where a fellow driver snubs you via absence of a requisite courtesy wave. whether the poor soul graciously allows you into their crowded lane or patiently stands by while you attempt an embarrassing 14-point turn at their expense, it is absolutely necessary that you respond with a visible and energetic wave: signaling your acknowledgment and appreciation.
the neglect of a courtesy wave is the equivalent to a verbal attack on one's mother or a sucker punch to the face.. as such, this behavior will usually be answered with the only suitable response that comes to mind.
